Carbon nanotube is a promising material for its specially physical and chemical properties. For the synthesis of carbon nanotubes, there are three major routes: (1) arc-discharge method; (2) laser ablation method; and (3) chemical vapor deposition method. For arc-discharge method, it is the first and the most expensive way to synthesis carbon nanotubes. Although the purity of carbon nanotube synthesized by arc-discharge method is the best, the cost problem limits the possibility of carbon nanotube mass production by this means. The laser ablation is another good way to synthesis carbon nanotubes, but it also has the same problem like arc-discharge method. Compared to other methods, chemical vapor deposition for the carbon nanotube synthesis is a simpler method for the mass production of carbon nanotubes. Regarding the chemical vapor deposition method, the key is the deposition of nanosized catalysts. For this purpose, the catalyst reduction method and nanoporous confined method are two widely practiced methods for the formation of nanosized catalysts. In this paper, a simplified method for the formation of nanosized catalysts on nanoporous alumina templates is approached and the efficiency of the growth of carbon nanotubes between this method and the catalyst electrodeposition method on nanoporous alumina templates will be compared.However, templates cut by the wire-cut electrical discharge method do not give the same results using the same steps.
